I have a solution. Put a Dollar General where the restaurant used to be. I will make a point of using the TA at least once a week.

I honestly can't figure out why anyone would gripe about Iron "We are out of that" Skillet being replaced by any other restaurant. I have never had a decent meal at an iron skillet, it's always been the lowest quality #### and I won't miss them one bit.

It used to be expensive but good. Now it’s just expensive… IF it’s even open.

Used to be decent back in late 80’s and thru 90’s but yeah it’s all about stock holders making a profit and #### the quality.

Another example of all the kaos that can destroy a Great Country thur government policies. California sets the pace. If it is failing in Callytardo its going to FAIL where you live. I mean chains like TA. It will create an opening for mom and pop again, but for how long is to be determined. I rather enjoyed parking and having a nice meal at the Iron Skillet/ Country Pride. Instead of what a choice of 2 or 3 tables in a taco bell or subway? Eating in the Truck, all the TIME?

I think in 5 years or less, the mega truck companies will be the doubles and triples type model. Fed Ex, UPS. Amazon is building a Very Big DC close to Sioux Falls SD, its already started. They are going to slowly blanket the USA. That business model will probably hand most of the freight. Railroads for BULK. There is an old rusty branch line Railroad close to where I live that is re doing their tracks, crossing, new Locomotives. They are trying to shut down oil so people can't travel by car. The TA/Petro is going to close at some point. Why do you need travel centers anymore. People use their cars to run to the stores or doctors offices, pharmacy, pot store, liquor store, then back home. Sit and watch the idiot tv. Gang members walking around your house all night.

I team drove for awhile, but the trucks really aren't made for teams. If so they would be bigger, plus the companies want to run them RAGGED. I see that coming on even stronger and stronger with all these Giagantic DC's. Boo Koo numbers of those stretched vans with Amazon on the side. They already tried to buy Fed Ex but Fed Ex didn't sell to them, but they will.

Oh yes they have been diving for awhile. People just don't have the work ethics anymore... I mean age 16 - 40. Couch potatos. If you don't have quality help, your business will FAIL. The fast food is next. Pretty soon you will be looking out your window looking at a wasted town/city. Time for a CHANGE. You will see. This country can't be one big giant caring center. People need jobs, need goals, need to wipe, need to LIVE. Being stoned all the time watch nasty's on You Tube, well, that NOT FOR ME, and it shouldn't be for this Country either.

Im not sure how everything will play out but I do believe that there will be two types of drivers

One who runs across the country and dropping off or picking up at a large DC outside of the cities

Then another who goes from the DC into the city

We actually need that, there’s no reason I have to bring my big rig into downtown when I’d rather run the highways from NY to CA

I personally like to run 6-700 miles but hate that last part into the city

Others hate what I do but would love a short day and being home every night

    Its happening now.

The average length of haul for OTR has dropped from 800 miles to 500 miles over the last ten years. This is due to several things, like decentralized warehousing, (Think Amazon), more dedicated freight and routes for major shippers, and terminal location growth by the Mega's. These are your scenario 1 drivers above. "Last Mile" freight, your scenario 2 drivers above, are the hottest segment in trucking right now and will continue to be for some time.

It's why we can order and receive things within a day now and the push for more efficient, faster, and cleaner delivery methods will only increase.
