Ben-Mine did fine here in Montana at -30. You should be OK-I think the Nash and Arctic Fox are the same where it counts. I am planning on moving south to that general area so we will see how mine does! BTW-is that your service truck?-It looks a bit newer than mine.

I have a fifth wheel camper. and it's not bad. campers aren't ment to be lived in full time. so they do wear out quick. also in alot of way they are like a house. with about the same problems. they just cost more to repair.

when you are out shopping for a camper. you should look in every corner of the camper. don't be afraid to get on top and look at the roof. the roof is rubber roof and rips easy. many campers used on the market have been treed. the roof has been drug on the low limbs of the tree. and the rubber roof is torn. so look for patch work on the roof. when enetering the camper be sure to pay attention for soft floors. look closely at the walls to check for signs of water leaks be sure to check all staorage cabinets. most campers are designed for leight weight. so there are no backing for the cabinets. so leaks or woood separation can be found inside the cabinets in the top edge.

slide outs. most are electric. orthers are hydralic. the tank is always in the front storage compartment. run the slide out and then look under the camper for leas of hydro fluid. check the battery out to see if it works. camper are a dual voltage system. dc&ac. you should also check the circut panel. they have a bad habit of going out. every camper has an inverter near the fuse panel. that is bad about going out.

appliances, havac, heating, and plumbing. always check to make sure the frig works. there expensive to replace in a camper. the over head a/c is also bad about going out. to replace the a/c is $1,000 plus labor. plumbing. you should check it out to make sure there are no leaks what so ever. people leave them sit in the winter. and the pipe freeze and bust. the toilet is bad about going out. many people replace it with one you would put in a house. the heating and a/c panel should also work. they rarely go out. but when they due. they will kick the heat and a/c on together. the water heaters in a camper are about 5 gallons. and run on gas or electric. and they only take about 30 mintues to get hot. any longer it is probably out. stoves in a camper never quit. so that is good. you should check the propane tanks. and make sure they look clean and are with in the 10 year date of use. a normal rver will have up to date propane tanks.

other stuff you need to check around the frot jacks. on campers they are called jacks. look for signs of the camper being dropped. remember normal size campers weight between 8k to 12k. empty. most new rvers drop the camper because they forget to put the pins in the front legs. and it does bend the frame. you should also look at the tire and wheels separetly. because of the weight camper wheels do get hot and flex and bend from use. and they do crack around the lugs. tires for campers are 5 to 6 ply tires. build to handle the load. many people try running regular car tires because they are cheaper. they also don't last either. you should also check the wheel bearing. many camper do set for years with out being moved. and most of the time they have bad bering in the hud. and the will over heat and bust the axle out on the camper. there's nothing worse then being stranded on the side of the road. and then finding out that the berings were frooze. and the damage is too much and has broke the frame. and the camper is a total loss because the seller lied about how long the camper has been sitting.

for those who are looking to buy a camper. there is a dealer in walcott,ia. that sells brand new campers and low prices.
