Sit as far away from the toilet as you can.

Ah, the old Greyhound bus ride to orientation........how many times have I done that ? Actually, just once. After that, it was drive my own personal car to orientation, even from Ca. to Ok. or Ia. Well worth it. Just consider it part of your adventure and hope they don't send you home, which means ANOTHER bus ride !

    1pm Saturday to 1030pm Sunday.
    It's a done deal.
I have the bus ticket, and WS paid for it.
    I'm going on the bus.
I may not like it, but I have done things I didn't like before.
    No big deal.
    I think I get the point now that it's a S#&%&y experience.
Can't be any worse than sitting on the couch getting fat and not earning a paycheck for 3 years.

I'll try to sit far from the toilet.:)-)

I concur about the rudeness. Everyone I dealt with that had anything to do with Greyhound was rude. One worker just stared at me when i asked where my bus was lining up, then walked away. The clerks in the bus stations were terrible, everyone related to Greyhound has no concept of customer service.

Also, don't sit near the toilets. Try not to use the toilets. The people who sit in the back seem to be the worst type of people. They would actually yell things like
"if you take a sh--, I will kick your ###", when people went into the toilet. Needless to say, between the employees and the "classy" people you will meet, it will be an experience.
I had to take a 40 hour ride because I was broke, and couldn't get my own transport, otherwise I would never take Greyhound. If at all possible I would take a plane, and get the amount they would have paid for the bus ticket refunded to me. It turns out to not being that much, because in addition to being a crap way to travel, it isn't cheap either. Probably only a $100 difference to get a flight, although you would probably have to pay the whole thing initially.

Man Man oh Man, Getting there at 10:30 Sunday night you better get some type of sleep on the bus, I highly suggest that you be awake and aware of your surrounding on Monday morning, Are you staying in the rooms provided or are you getting a room in a Hotel in Missoula? If you can swing it try and get a hotel room it is a little more private, you are at the mercy of the other guys to come and get you but it is still better then staying in the "Dorm" rooms... I wish you well. Let us know how it goes.

Did a 38 hour ride jus tthree weeks ago, Delaware to Dallas... Left Wilmington, DE Thursday at 4:25pm Arrived in Mesquite TX Saturday at 5:15am Thankfully I didn't have to be anywhere until 11:00am Sunday so I had ample recuperation time. As far as Bags, I brought 4, two medium sized duffel bags and two smaller carryon bags. I checked to two duffels, the extra one cost $10.00. As another poster said they must be less than 40lbs each or there is an extra weight charge. One of the smaller bags I carried is a large Laptop bag. I mean a LARGE one, it has of course my laptop, also has my 3 eternal hart drives, mp3 player, cell phone accessories, all electronic cables and connections, a power strip, and on the other side of it... it is doubling as my brief case containing my notebook, Motor carriers atlas, truck stop guide, personal documents, pens, Sharpies etc. This bag NEVER left my sight. I always chose a seat where I could place it on the floor in front of my, so it was between my legs and the seat. My last bag just contained toiletries and some food and water. The carry on bags just have to be able to fit in the overhead compartment or under your seat.

You will be cramped, you will be uncomfortable, you will at times be rushed but it will end, so it is only temporary. I can't imagine the stops are only 5 minutes in duration. I had to change buses Three times, in Baltimore, Richmond, and Atlanta. Each of those layovers was about an hour in duration, so plenty of time to eat. In addition there were a few "service stops" where everyone had to exit the bus so they could fuel it, clean the toilet, etc.

That was my experience, I didn't get chummy Chummy with other passengers, I figured I would never see them again, I listened to music, surfed the web, read, etc to keep myself busy. Time passes slowly but it does pass. Sleeping comes in stages, so get what you can.

Good Luck at Orientation and see somewhere down the road!
