Just curious to see if there are any tricks some of you might have on descenting a trailer. I just had an onion load had to go to two different washouts. And if you know something for other stinky products that would be helpful too. Thank you in advance for any help

Coffee works great for getting the smell out.Lightly sprinkle Coffee all over trailer then let it air out with trl doors open for an hr and sweep out.

Coffee is a great trick, make sure the Trl washouts use deoderizer too.

Leave the doors open as much as possible at night. Or run it with the vent open going down the road. Any thing to air it out.

In a pinch when you don't have much time, turn the temp all the way down, the cold wet metal smell tends to mask the onion smell some. Of course that depends on how strict the next customer is.

    crb and jaso37 Thank this.

Do that AFTER sprinkling the trailer floor with coffee grounds (do not buy and sprinkle liquid coffee and expect it to work).

    jaso37 and FerrissWheel Thank this.

I always used coffee. Sweep it around on the floor to grind it in then leave it until just before arriving at the next shipper.
Someone left some fish in one trailer and the odor was horrible. Had it washed with scented wash and it still stunk so used coffee which helped a lot, but still terrible. Set the temp at zero degrees and left it that way a few hours and didn't shut it off until arriving at the shipper.
No smell when I opened the doors for a dry load. They were slow and by the time they put the last pallet on the smell was coming back and the loader noticed it. I told him I didn't smell anything but did notice a smell outside from some other trailer. He bought the story.

TGUNKEL, jaso37 and FerrissWheel Thank this.

I will also say find a good washout that uses some deodorizer. Then park for the night with doors open. Always works for me after onion loads.
