We get to Great Falls, MT this evening after greasing the truck in Casper, WY and doing some shopping in Walmart, will cross the border in the morning, so far so good.
CellNet, baha and Cattleman84 Thank this. -
Swiss Mountain Dog Thanks this.

However hit one of them moosy things wandering the road or take a tumble into a ditch and screw up the truck, well that few day's vacation will turn into a few weeks vacation and a lot of lost money, not to mention a possibility of being out of trucking.Lepton1 and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Well, so far I have made it to Shelby, MT, got fuel at Flying J to cross the border with full tanks, diesel here $3.21,9, diesel in Canada, $4.10 after conversion to US dollars. So far in this trip $931 in fuel. 2367 mikes to go. Will need to tank at least twice to get to Anchorage. Waiting for paperwork from broker for customs.

Will appreciated if somebody let me know what kind of permit do i need to cross Canada with the load to AK and where to get it, not personal, truck permits.
CellNet Thanks this. -
Yukon Territory and Alaska most likely will require Plates/permits because they do not participate in IFTA.
Verify which states and provinces are or are not on your IFTA to know for sure.
Never been up that far so do not know where/how to get them.
You have not mentioned yet if you are hauling a van/refer or flat/O.S.?CellNet Thanks this. -
@Troady Have you set up your data/phone plan to work in Canada yet?
That may be a real rude surprise for you if you do not do it before crossing over.......Lepton1, tucker and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Phone is Verizon, called yesterday and I am covered in Mexico and Canada. I do drive a dry van.
Canadian provinces required a permit, not plate, Alaska can be eather, a temporary permit or a yearly plate, both have similar cost. Still Canadian permits need to be purchased somewhere.CellNet Thanks this. -
Butt on the other hand if he comes back whining it cost him 2500 dollars to get a tire brought out to him its our right to snicker and say that's what you get for taking a load 50% under market value.
And to be fair, its not like he is driving our rates down. The customer was willing to put this load on a guy with no northern experience that doesn't even know what's required to run it legally, or to give a realistic expected delivery date. That customer was NEVER going to meet our rate anyway, so let him have it.
I hope it goes well for him and he gets back to the states safe and sound and no worse for the wear. This experienced will teach him that he did this load at cost.CellNet, SixShooterTransport, Sirscrapntruckalot and 3 others Thank this.
