Does your insurance allow you to go to Alaska? Not many do. Did you do a filing with ICBC for BC to have insurance?
Do you have Canadian customs bond and in transit paperwork? If not you will have a nice surprise at the border.
BC and Alberta are part of IFTA and IRP.
In the Yukon you will have to buy fuel and trip permit at Watson Lake scale. If closed they will get you in Whitehorse.
Alaska will give you a level 1 when you get to Tok and sell you the permits for truck and trailer.

I like the Walmart in Casper. Difficult getting in, unless you know that driving right in front of Sam's Club is the best way in or out. -
I almost got a team load to Newfoundland from OKC this afternoon. It includes a ferry ride to the island (billed to customer). The load fell through.
By comparison to OP's run from Dallas to Anchorage, about 3,885 miles, the run from OKC to Newfoundland is about 2,756 miles. His pay is about $10K and we bid $25K for a Hazmat load. Sorry to see that load get away. -
Thanks Vikingswen for the tip about the fuel permits.
Everybody got a reason to do what they do, it's very easy to make an opinion about somebody else when you are not in their shoes, and being honest, we all do, anyway, this is probably my last (and only) chance to get to know a big part of Canada and Alaska, w/o paying for it or taking a time I don't have, being almost 60 and practically living in my truck with wife and dog, i like to work at my own tempo, meaning not so hard but steady, not taking many time for hollydays but not working so hard that I get tired, and so far have serve me well. I can pay my bills, and I get to know places many people will never in their lifetime know or heard about it, and that all, doing what I love, driving my own truck on my own tempo.
Many people will not understand my way of doing things, but it's my way and not going to change anytime soon, been to old for that.
I can have an accident, my truck can brake down, yeah, that's true, but that can happen anywhere at anytime you crawl behind the wheel.
Anyway, we live in a free land (thanks God for that) and are free to comment our thoughts anytime we feel like it, that's the reason also for this forum, trying to help each other and at the same time amuse ourselves with other people experiences, otherwise life will be very boring, good luck to you allCellNet, Keepforgettingmypassword, SixShooterTransport and 16 others Thank this. -
Hope you take some pictures!!!!
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I'm holding out hope that OP pulls off a minor miracle and gets a backhaul.
Cattleman84, larry2903, frizzbees and 2 others Thank this. -
I forgot about the "In Transit" form A8B A8B – United States – Canada Transit Manifest
Good luck with the Canadian insurance and all the other stuff that I take for granted because the company I'm leased to takes care of all that. I'd be real interested to hear about your experience (easy/hard/impossible/time required.) -
Lepton1 Thanks this.

I may end this trip w/o making big earnings or none at all, but I will be happy for the experience that it will be with me for the rest of my life, that to me, make it worth it.
And if they post the trip again next summer (not going to Alaska in winter time for no money), I will know what to do and will bid accordingly (and probably will ending not getting the trip, but won't feel bad about it).Last edited: Aug 23, 2018
