I don’t know how even a rookie driver wouldn’t have noticed something with that truck…it couldn’t possibly have handled worth a #### and at least in that picture it’s sitting kinda funny. Yeah I agree farmers get away with alot…I am part of that crowd but I don’t do unsafe stuff. Unless you consider running 100k unsafe. To be honest I’m ready for them to start cracking down on farmers. At this point I see no reason farmers should be treated differently than any other trucking company or business. At least around here the vast majority are very industrialized…it’s way different than 20 years ago when it was a family or extended family working together to get harvest done. In which case for the limited number of miles traveled and the typical conditions I think it was reasonable to cut them slack but now they all have 3 or 4 semis and hired drivers often hauling for hire and run as many or more miles over the whole year as a small trucking company. So let’s do away with the whole farm plate thing and cdl exemption. I never thought I’d be saying stuff like this and I am generally against government regulations but I really wouldn’t care if they clean this up

Good friend of mine would save himself thousands of dollars every year if he improved his greasing of equipment. I'm certain.W923, AModelCat, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -

Fact is those low air rides are cracking frames under the fifth wheel plate. Coulda and woulda happened to anything other than a farm truck. Most trucks i see that are 3 or 5 years old have 60 years worth of crust on them under there so a crack is not easy to spot until a good pressure wash or sand blast is performed.

I noticed a crack in a crossmember a couple years ago while I was unloading pipe in Minnesota I decided it wasn’t life threatening so I would fix it when I got home, but I didn’t want to get in trouble with on the way so I grabbed some grease off the side of the fifth wheel and slimed it up then tossed some dirt from the road on it and it worked…. I got a very thorough level 1 in Iowa on my way home and it went unnoticed. It probably helped it was in range of the driveshaft slip joint so the grease bomb didn’t look out of place.SmallPackage and bzinger Thank this.
