First I am not trying to paint him in any way as a bad person but wondered why the difference and yes bad me, I had no choice but to believe the government employee at the time.

the assumption comes from the fact that he got probation under the 410 rule, nothing else would qualify.

To answer his question, yes I think he is hirable to many companies.

He did say he was a dope dealer in one of his posts. Pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute.

Other than that I agree with everything you said. It is sad that this has become the go to profession for ex-cons and such. I asked someone earlier in this thread if they would put someone with this kind of record in one of their trucks with their name on it. From the replies I got it looks like at least half of them would. Wow. Wow.

I think he is too, just not at the better ones. Class X in Illinois is pretty serious. And when most of us looked it up, we saw the worst of the worst crimes, and then the drug crime after he brought it up. We have a million and one questions here when it comes to felonies and drug charges, most aren't as level headed as this guy, most have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to questions about said indiscretion on their part. That's why he got jumped on in my opinion. My view is that if you have serious charges, look elsewhere for work. That's how I feel, not the opinion that everyone holds, but its mine. Too many people pulling us as an industry down.

I did read.. And reading comprehension is just ONE of my best abilities..

The OP stated he was convicted of a class X felony..I would suggest that YOU look up that definition..and then when you comprehend what all that X entails process it through your thought patterns..

You/we are not discussing the lil drug peddler selling dry wall chunks wrapped in cellophane on the corner..

Lmfao! Ya know what? The OP isn't worth my time..you must be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt..So next time they are in your home town..invite them over for dinner with your wife, kids, parents..sister and brother..

A class X felony is the worst of the worst, and it's not them that are driving this industry into the ground..it is all of you, that allow them in.

my God man. Go read posts 37 38 and 40 all from the op explaining exactly what his convivtion was. so clearly either you did not read or did not comprehend. and we have no way of knowing what kind of drugs or how much. There is no set amount for class x, just intent to distribute, could have had 2 or 3 grams of weed in seperate bags and got a class X. so dont jump to the worst conclusions. selling or doing drugs is a bad decision but shouldnt ruin the guys life

Every person regardless of crime, having served a sentence handed down by a jury of their peers or a judge deserves a chance to reenter society and be a productive member of that society. I know the definition of a class x felony and I know the bs that is written into most laws, as an example if you were to hit a teacher on school property you would be charged with a class x felony, but if you were to hit a person walking down the street you would not be. Before you go judging or name calling anyone who has been convicted of a crime, you should instead keep you mouth shut. There are people of far greater moral character than yourself that have been convicted of a crime, and there are people who have just made a mistake or chose the wrong path in life. That is no reason to ostracize them if there are trying to make a better life for themselves.

And while OP was convicted of a felony I suggest anyone who likes to pass judgement on people who have "committed" a crime read- http://www.slate.com/articles/news_...jor_consequences_for_the_people_charged_.html

No, you didn't read anything in this thread. You just wanted to jump in and offer a hateful and judgmental opinion based on intolerance.

First, the definition of a Class X felony has been posted SEVERAL times here, and each time it clearly states that Possession with Intent to Distribute falls under this category. We are all well aware of this, you obviously are not.

The OP responded and confirmed that his crime was in fact drug related and he received probation for it.

If the OP isn't worth your time, what are you doing here?

And finally, it's not the rehabilitated felons that drive this industry into the ground, it's hateful, judgmental, intolerant people like you. People that make all truck drivers look like we're a bunch of old, racist, lazy, intolerant, and incompetent windbags. To be honest, I'd hire a felon attempting to turn his life around long before I would hire someone with your lousy attitude and your obvious lack of attention to detail.

I'm sorry, but i just don't see the connection between a violent felon and the "privilege" of possessing a CDL-A.

    Apparently, neither do our legislators.

Besides - at least in my case - 18 hour shifts in a ratty-assed KW is *not* a reward for good behavior... it's obviously a punishment for something in a past life. :)

I believe that some acts of crimes no one should be allowed a chance to reenter society for their actions, and like the words 'paid their debt to society', rehabilitation is a fallacy and doesn't exist.

Since some of y'all still are having reading comprehension issues:

The OP got nailed for drugs. And they way the laws are written the quantity is all it takes to kick it up to an "intent to distribute." That is a very small quantity for some drugs.

Now if you drive-by-braille self-righteous fools would kindly step off the high horses?

    Thank you!

And I'm well aware I just used an entirely too broad of brush. Pot, meet Kettle!
