I think you have made a good career choice.Trucking industry seems to work great for job hoppers you can find a crap job every week here.

You can find a job. You may have to take what you can get. It don't hurt to get some recommendations, but if the companies that have less than stellar reps will take you, take it. I am saying to immediately commit to those types of companies, just keep them in your back pocket. Others said stay a year or 2, that's good advice. Don't listen to too many naysayers, try to remain patient. Eventually, the whole industry opens up to you.

Check out JCC in Smithfield. It’s one of the best truck driver training schools in the country. You will learn so much more and be well trained when you leave. You won’t be limited to crappy starter companies when you graduate. It’s a 384 hr 8 week program. They also have a night/weekend class. When I went about 7 years ago now, it was less than $1200. Money well spent for your future.

If you can swing the finances, you can pick who you want to work for. Instead of going to a crappy company that will train you and use your cheap labor….Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
I'm not sorry at all for the way I did it but....if I had to do it over, again....
Chinatown's recommendation(s) above for YRC Freight would probably be the way I'd get started, now.
It's an incredible opportunity to get into some of the best-paying jobs in the industry--plus, a shot at FREE health insurance for you and your family (if you have one).
