truck abandonment

    I have question for anyone with an answer.A friend of mine quit his job at usa after they told him to fudge his logs and drive 14 hours.Im sure usa will hit his dac with it.Does he still have a career in trucking after doing this?

    More information on the topic would be helpful. How was the request made ie. in writing, phone ect...?

    Couldn't he have finished his run dealt with it when he back to his terminal short of, as your post implies, abandoning his truck?

    He is definitely screwed with larger companies, for awhile anyway.
    He might have some chance with a small company that doesn't use DAC.

    I dont really know the true facts other than he DID call them and told them where to get their truck.Dont know if this was done over the com or phone.I only know he left his truck in a pilot.But,from what im hearing on this and other forums.he really screwed up by leaving his truck.

    NEVER, NEVER leave a truck ANYWHERE but the Company YARD UNLOADED and get someone (dispatcher, safety etc) to SIGN-OFF on the truck.

    Well,come to find out his MANAGER NOT HIS DISPATCHER told him over the qualcom to fudge his logs.Wouldnt tell him where to drop off the truck.Just kept trying to send him out.Dot is investigating the record and the company.It appears this has happened more than once with usa.

    Im kinda new, so maybe I should keep my 2cents out of this. I dont blame the guy for not wanting to run illegel logs. But why would you abandon the truck?? Why coulnt you ask to speak to the safety department. I mean no matter what, why woulnt you just "quit" on the phone and return the truck. One has to think, "what will this mean to ME"! Who cares about the company, you got to do the right thing for your future. Just my 2 cents.

    I agree with the members who said its a big nono as it can really screw your chances with getting in with good companies and even local jobs. My advice: Tell him to never ever do this again. If anything should happen; drive the tractor/truck to the nearest yard and take it from there. My friend whos been with Swift for 4yrs told me its one of the worse things one has too fight in order to remove off the DAC.

    My advice is too ask around locally to see if companies use DAC. If the DOT report goes good, he might a have a chance. If not, I hope he has a back up career for a year till things cool.
