    then we agree to disagree.

I prefer nicely packaged things with a CPU controller that gives me features like engine heater, battery monitor and other nice things.

Have the day you deserve on this topic. It's done. We get your point and people get mine. We have different opinions. I honor yours, now you can honor mine for being different than yours.

fair enough, I felt obligated to respond to your derogatory and incorrect assertions towards gas generator systems. It's been a good fight, I think between the two of us we thoroughly informed people of the options available, probably more than they ever really cared to think about it. I'll concede things like engine heater, battery monitoring, start up and shut down, etc... are more automated with your APU than my current configuration but also would note I can adapt or modify mine to do any of those things as well. Packaging is just dependent on your skills and how much time you want to put into it on a component system like mine. I've considered a control panel with remote start switch, permanently hardwiring the block heater with relay, permanent trickle charge to batteries or switchable with voltage readout, etc... those options are not unavailable to me but keeping it a fairly manual setup works fine for me at the moment.

I would expect propane/natural gas gens to be available when propane/natural gas trucks start popping up, getting a propane/natural gas tank wouldn't be a bad solution for me either now that there are pumps I can pull up too for that. Depending on size would run my gen for a couple months or a year without refilling. It's kind of fun to build it how you want it.

    What is derogatory and incorrect....

By the time you cobble something together with all of the same features of a tripac, you'll have as much invested in the system as someone just buying an off the shelf system.

Can you do it? Sure you can.... But will it REALLY be cheaper by the time you put all of It together.

    I look forward to a ng/lpg system.

A question for both MN driver and Dannythetrucker.(or any one else)

What safetyfeatures does your system have?
The $ has been discussed in detail but nobody has mentioned safety.

Since this has turned into a debate about Tripak vs homebuild.......we might as well learn something from it.:biggrin_25525:

Coolant and oil level shut-down. Overtemp shutdown,

I'd have to go in and look at the troubleshooting manual to give the rest of them.

Resale value on a truck with an APU is better than on one with a homespun Rube Goldberg setup.
