Just for the record, these tow operators and LEO work hand in hand. I have a friend that has a towing business, and I went with him on a call where a driver ran his trailer wheels in a ditch. When we got there, cops were all over, and I couldn't believe how courteous and helpful the cops were. My friend knew them by name. Probably sees them everyday. So, no surprise there. Just for the record, if anybody is travelling up Hy. 13, north of Hy. 8 in the Badger, there's a state cop ( in a Ford Interceptor) that's out for blood, and he will drag you to a local gravel pit, so be advised, this is what they drive now. https://img.gta5-mods.com/q75/images/wisconsin-state-patrol-2016-fpiu/4f65cb-tewr.jpg

I've been introduced to both of them. Got a warning for load securement in a van, from the elder of the two. Nice guy, good demeanor.
The youngster got me too, verbal warning for being on a temp road restricted route. Sign went up the day before because of road construction on 13 at HighBridge. He had me on my steers, but nothing else. Because it was an axle weight restriction, and I was light.
Found out later that the younger of the two there on 13 was, SUPPOSEDLY, warned by a local judge to back off. No need to cite everything.
Again I say supposedly, because I have no actual proof, just rumor.Lepton1 Thanks this. -

I will say this in defense of the tow truck driver calling the police, he was dealing with a hazard on the road. It was a truck so overweight it required a heavy duty tow truck rated at 50 tons, just to change the tires. The frame flexed during this maneuver. The tires and axles were obviously overloaded and the chances of additional potentially catastrophic tire or axle failure was very real.
The tow truck driver did the right thing to make sure the truck and scene were secured and the truck properly escorted to a safe nearby location to offload. While we shouldn't necessarily squeel on one another, if another driver is placing the public in harm's way I will call 911. I have done it before and will do it again. If I see an obviously impaired driver I make the call. If a tow truck driver allows an obviously dangerous truck to proceed then they are potentially faced with liability if they didn't make the call.Big Don, misterG and gentleroger Thank this. -
