This has been going on for years and just now getting to the national media. Imagine if Kamal toe and that other guy had gotten elected..you wouldn't have even been hearing about it. The trucking industry as a whole had better be thanking their lucky stars we got who we got in office right now or we would be doomed to.no return.

Why wasn't it addressed during the first term?

It would have nipped it in the bud...and the ELDs.

And we better take advantage of it. The Dems are already trying to gaslight their gullible base for the next election. I only wish Trump wouldn't have taken on this tariffs nonsense. Economy would be booming right now.

It must feel better when you're killed by someone of your own ilk too.

I heard an idea that CDLs should be given to those with at least 1 year of community college with math, english and writing skills.
I don't necessarily disagree but would also prohibit ex convicts and those who are over 30% bmi overweight. The rates and the driver pay woul shoot to the moon!

I agree with some of this trarrif stuff but yes it does seem its a bit too much at once. We found out during covid how dependant we are on other countries, especially China, for important things, they got us by the balls.
There will be growing pains on the road to bringing manufacturing back to the US, which is what he is trying to do. Its not going to happen overnight, guessing we won't see any benefit from the tariffs for another 5 to 10 years.
Both parties have sold us down the road the past 40 years. All I got to do is look around where I live, all the textile mills, tire plants, etc, gone! All started under Clinton's NAFTA plan, Ross Perot was right that this was going to be a bad thing.

When the news said, 'Singh' caused a Truck accident in Ontario. I thought it was Ontario, Canada not the state of California. Ironically, Ontario, Canada has a Million and one Singh's who are truckers like Cali. I'm sure both sides of the border have finally figured out whos the problem is.! Its been brewing for a decade now and extremely unfortunate that lives had to be lost for Government's light bulbs to go on for change. But just as long as it took to get where the chaos in trucking is. It will take the same amount of time for ut to be fixed.

I am going to sound like a broken record, but here goes ...

Secretary Duffy has the power to stop this right now; he will not.

I do not believe it is in his best interest to solve a problem that he has been paying lip service to.

He has the power to order all non-domiciled and provisional CDLs invalid nationwide.

He can do this with one order, and if the states do not immediately comply, he can shut down all authorities in that state to prevent them from operating interstate.

This will stop a lot of crap with these states complaining they have the right to issue the CDLs, when they have agreed to follow the US DoT/ICC/FMCSA regulations, or have tougher ones. There is no latitude when it comes to interstate commerce; it is a constitutional issue that has been enforced by both Congress and the courts for the last 130-plus years.

This is the only solution; he can not take the ordinary measure of a review process, or crap like that, he has the power to issue the order, and we have to demand he revoke all these CDLs, no matter where the driver is or where the loads are.

Agreed but its much of a bigger problem now than it was back then with the massive amount of illegals that were let in under Biden the past 4 years.
