Does anyone know of a trucking company that pays drivers a weekly salary instead of a rate per mile or percentage of the load?

So the uncertainty of a weekly income is not an issue for drivers?

My old boss tried a per days you worked route pay before he had to close up and the drivers about had a fit.some routes/stops were local and even though thy did 20 stops and the longer routes did 12,the pay didn't make up for the 12-13 hrs you had to run to get it.he paid for about 10 on a light day what the pay scale amounted to and you worked a few hours a day for free.I'll take hourly on a 150 mile radius route.

If you keep the truck moving you will have a pay check.

Well from the owners side it would be dumb to pay a otr driver a salary. What would make the truck move? If I could lay up in a truckstop all day and get paid for it I would be in no hurry to move up the road for my next load.

On the drivers side it sure would be nice to get paid a salary. If the truck breaks down I don't give a crap I get paid the same. If im stuck at the dock for a few extra hours I dont care I get paid the same.

I think most of the locals get paid hourly also. Not sure though.

I would think the local drivers would ##### if they got paid a salary. If your salary is based on a 40 hour week. What happens if your stuck in traffic and ended up working 50 hours or 60 hours a week? Would get sickening after a while with no OT and your salary per hours worked equals about 10 bucks an hour.
