You should NEVER be so close to anyone/anything in front of you that would cause you to "apply the brakes" in way that would slam your load into the cab

Right! Where do you drive with no traffic and the entire city population doesn't cut you off at rush hour? Because you definitely don't drive philly or Newark.

Pretty much. I was cut off and brake checked almost 2 years ago and I was found at fault. Even the police report indicated the other driver merged into my lane in front of me. I'd have been happy even getting them to change it to 50/50 fault but no dice.

The real reason it took so long to clear was the hours it took to get the driver loose of the butt clench he had on the seat .

Those San Antonio owner-operator aggregate haulers are as bad as any of them in terms of speed and following to close, and just generally driving in unsafe manner. They are almost as bad as the garbage haulers across eastern PA. But that said, there's no way of knowing exactly what transpired and if the trucker was a "hero" or a "lucky driver" who dodged more serious effects of what basically amounts to a self-inflicted incident

It was a bad scene for sure. I can't help wondering why a driver would have to swerve that violently, unless he didn't see the fender bender until it was too late to apply the service brakes and gradually move over. I hope this doesn't offend anyone.
