I think it is unethical. I recently had a job where I had to drive a non-cdl box truck. The gears are much different than the ones found in a tractor trailer. If you cannot provide equipment to learn on that you are expected to drive, you have no business being an educator.

So every school in the land has to custom order every sort and size of truck so that everyone who walks in the door can be trained to drive everything.... or the school sucks? Really?

I just called him & asked, and he said he's not a terrorist. But I'll be keeping an eye on him just in case.

The whole National Security thing is taking this way out of context guys...those are just loony rants.

The point is, dealing with schools who use pup trailers and 6-speeds to teach guys looking to get into OTR positions. The schools know full well that their rigs are not compatible with the company trucks, yet they still advertise placement with Werner, Swift, TransAm, etc. What I believe is that schools have a very strong role and responsibility, yet many fail at fulfilling that, they just want tuition money.

My comment was in regard to not having any CDL A class trucks like one poster pointed out. He posted that they used pick-up trucks with a regular 5th wheel trailer. I never stated they should have EVERY type of truck out there, i just expect that it would be an actual CDL A truck.

It has to meet the requirements of being a Class A vehicle or they could not test in it and receive a class A license from the state.
