I have done a lot of research on the starter companys
1.Swift
2.CRE
3.USX
4USA
5.PRIME
6.etc etc
And if there are people happy to be at prime or for that matter Swift ,then good for them.
Yeah there are $70k jobs out there, but when you are just starting out,you take the best one you can get.
Leaseing,Prime ,any of them for that matter is a NO-GO
I wouldnt ever think of it and if you do wait a couple of years before you take the plunge.
Now i know i am a nobody but i know by reading all of these posts, that all of this bashing ,cheering between 7-8 others isn't going to solve anything.
Again i have got plenty of useful info from all of you![]()

Searched your posts & can you give me a pointer (time frame or link) to your Training thread that you talk about please?? Also, not just Prime but there are actually a lot of carriers hiring a lot of students right now it seems? Why or has it always been like that? Thank you & God Bless/Continued Success.

Many reasons... staffing up in expectation of the economy picking up. Loss of drivers due to new medical requirments, electronic logs, CSA2010 - i.e., "change" is driving some off. Lots of reasons - OTOH, trucking historically has a fairly high driver turnover rate, and it's easier for a company to get a new driver to do things their way rather than deal with a crusty ol' experienced driver who expects to be paid more.
Can't find that thread for some reason this evening...MarineNewRookie Thanks this. -
Prime pushes lease purchase programs.Lease purchase programs are a scam.If a company is trying to scam you,why on earth would you even consider driving for them?

That make sense in any profession == resistance to change, as well as, some experienced set in ways that do not work anymore. Have Great Days!!!! Thanks again for your time.

I was a company driver at prime and never once was the lease "pushed" on me. My trainer and FM both told me it wasn't a good time to lease a truck (spring 09) as freight was slow.
I was never accidently put into a class either. I was treated fairly and evrything I was told prior to starting was exactly what happened.
The only complaint I had was the first truck they gave me was a P.O.S (and U2 saw it so he can attest) but before I left the yard I turned it back in and got a different truck I was happy with.
I can say for sure Your FM will make or break ya. Not all of Prime's FM's are good. I've met a couple of wowsers.
But my FM was awesome he took good care of us, kept us running and got me home when I needed it.
I have no complaints about my time at Prime.
