If I would have had an option for no power steering in the training trucks or at least the ability to disable it.. I would have done it.. 95% of student backing problems is oversteering..... no power steering does away with that issue instantly.

You did notice that the third word in my post was the word "GENERALLY", right? You must have missed that. Also, I didn't "describe" anything. I made a conditional statement based upon my experiences and observations, and upon the experiences and observations of numerous posters here on TTR. Of course community college programs are not ALWAYS better....hence my use of the word "generally" , way up near the beginning of my prior post.

  5. that's about normal for one of those kind of places that recruit for them strictly..
up there north of Madison Wisconsin at Sun prairie is a real good training school there it's been there since about 1974..
I'm curious to know is this a PTDI

When I started 13 years ago I went to CR England, agreed to stay 2 years and they paid for my training. When two years were up I moved on. Why would anybody pay $6000 for some #### school?

I just think people don't do enough research. There are a #### ton of local jobs out there that will pay you while they train you for your license and a real wage too. It's a shame guys get caught up in these Mills. I almost did because I let my CDL lapse after not driving for two years and didn't think I would anymore and it seemed the easiest route but it was $4000 and I was able to find like four local companies that would take me and let me re test on their trucks....no brainier. There really should be some kind of price regulations on these places because you learn pretty much nothing except the bare minimum to pass the test.

The lucky ones probably learn the "Bare Minimum".... thinking back approx 3 years ago now, just doing a refresher.... I didn't realize how shameful these "schools" are.... Students with ZERO experience in a Semi, going on the locale roads on first or second day.....

You may be right. And if he wasn't, I do apologize. If he was, I stand firm.

even most of the driver mills are not as bad as you describe for that company. But nobody can force you to stay, you can always walk away and go somewhere else. Something lots forget.
