BEST GPS & TRIP PLANNING
I personally use a Garmin truck GPS and always have Google maps running. If a road is closed, I will know way before I ever see a sign. The same goes for major accidents that are causing a significant delay. Google maps shows me and automatically gives me a new route. It’s a life saver. I use an atlas mostly to verify new routes I have never been on.Lux Prometheus Thanks this. -
Yes google maps can have moderate functionality as far as letting you know about closed roads and traffic ahead but I would be VERY CAUTIOUS on heeding its recommendation for a new route. That's how you can find yourself deep in a business district with no way out.

Garmin is good.
Beware of Rand Mc Nally. They’re having problems. Only ones working good are old and they don’t software update them.
Garmin definitely has a sense of humor. Likes to pop up in middle of truck stop saying: No trucks allowed.Lux Prometheus Thanks this. -
I use Copilot truck gps for my android phone. It works pretty good. There is a 15 day free trial then $9.99 per month. There is an annual fee but I forget the price.
