Oh yeah most definitely! I stopped updating about a year ago! If it aint broke then there aint no reason fixin it. I just use that then double check it with my phone and thatll keep down data usage but its useless if theres no service :biggrin_25513:

Ive been looking for that one! Thanks for refreshing my memory! Yes so if you have a smartphone just use pcmiler and you're good:biggrin_255:
Heat shouldn't be an issue as long as the phone has enough space to breathe

Best advice is to just buy one and check it out- you will get as many opinions as drivers who post here as to which one is the best one. Having said that, the top two brands are Rand McNally and Garmin. They share a lot of the same features and premium features like traffic, weather, fuel prices etc and both the TND520LM and DEZEL760LMT run about the same price. Don't ask me to compare the two, there are already plenty of threads on this forum that do exactly that. I'm not willing to start yet another one. http://www.dieselboss.com/ is also a very good place to both compare and buy one.

Did you tell him what the price of that app is?

Sorry, this was in response to the post regarding Co-Pilot on an android phone. Thunder storms in the area playing havoc with my data access just now.

I use Streets & Trips with the Truck Stops Plus add-on Template and Google Earth, which is a free download. I configure my company's truck routes in Streets & Trips utilizing the Truck Stops Plus add-on Template, which involves for the most part only adding my fuel stop locations as stops. Then I look my shippers and receivers up in Google Earth. Place a pushpin in the driver entranceways of my shippers and receivers in Google Earth. Then access the properties of that pushpin to copy and paste its GPS coordinates into Streets & Trips so that Streets & Trips provides me turn-by-turn directions directly into the driver entranceways of my shippers and receivers. Finally, I save all my shippers and receivers setup in this way as I go in my Truck Stops Plus add-on Template for when I will go back to them again in the future. In fact, I already have all the driver entranceways to all my company terminals and drop lots already setup in this way and saved in my Truck Stops Plus add-on Template as well. Of course, all of this is accomplished on my 17-inch laptop screen and I never have to call my shippers and receivers for directions. It works very well for me.

As for as restricted routes and low overheads, I just check portions my routes for them in the Truck Stops Plus add-on Template, but most of the time you won't have to check.

no, pcmiler is the hand unit. copilot is the software for phones. made by the same company though. copilot was $3.50 last time i downloaded it.

it's what i started with originally. but then bought a hand held trucker unit. and traded that one it for my pcmiler.

The Co-Pilot Truck for USA is $146.00. One time download on maps and maps are by region or one mega gb download. App also has live traffic premium subscription.

I guess the question comes down to how much crap one wants to load up on their phones. Personally, I prefer a stand alone device.

I have a bucket full of maps. I have a Tom Tom with truck updates, I have Rand Mc Nally, laminated. But the thing I use most it ME. Watch were your going, remember where you been. After 20 years or so, you don't look at the map so much. :biggrin_255:

1.3 gigs of maps is nothing on a phone. considering that the only other thing that takes up space is camera pics and video. and music.

but then. that's why you have an sd card that fits into your phone. for all your maps and pics and music. therefore leaving all that free space on your phone for your other apps. that take up virtually no space at all.

Depends on who is using the phone and what is important to that user.
