Prime the engine with oil pressure before start-up. I don't know how that's done on diesels but, on small block chevy spin the oil pump shaft with a special tool until pressure gauge starts to read.

I'm with the last 4 posts. Not everyone rebuilds a truck from top to bottom after it sits a few years. Not saying your not going to have to change some seals and whatnot but i think some of these issues are exaggerated a bit. That being said I wouldn't leap into it and drive it 2000 miles under a load right away either. Just use some common sense.

You'd do well to get an overhead done. I know I would.

2 years isn't that bad. My W900 sat in a field for 10 years before I bought it. I literally only checked oil, coolant and power steering levels and then fired it up. It had half a tank of 10 year old diesel and the fuel was just fine. Truck ran fine with it as well. I siphoned out the tank the other day and the fuel is still clean. Been running it in the steam cleaner burner without issue. With any truck that's new to me I'd do a full service (all fluids and filters including power steering and coolant).

In 2010 I bought a repoed 07 780 Volvo 780 that had sat for 2 years , initially had all the fluids changed , new batteries , new rubber etc ...1st trip had to keep draining black goo out of the water seperater and quickly cleared up ..new wheel seals all around soon followed along with starter and 2 air bags ..next came new air tanks , air dryer and front cover gasket on the moter ...after those bugs got worked out all was well .

A lot depends on the type of climate it's been parked in. If it's been up somewhere dry as hell, you'll get rubber rot, if it's been somewhere hot and humid, you get other issues. The more extreme the weather fluctuations it's been through, the more might have gone south.
