They must only have drivers that are very down on their luck, or very stupid, if that is the pay and work involved.

I seriously looked into this when I had the gap in 2011, doing nothing so I contacted a few companies about doing this work.
I wasn't too impressed with the pay - on average it was something like 90 cents a mile for singles and a solo driver, if you have experience with trailers and a class A and learned how to deck, it would be about $1.50 a mile <<<== those are all inclusive rates. If you had your own towing setup (which only a few do) then it is $1.60 a mile. ALL of the costs except tolls are out of pocket expenses.
