slept many times in the scales in NC,(Mebane) and KY, never had a problem.

when you leave ,you hit the bypass lane and roll on out.

KY on 75, has nice bathrooms and a sitting room with vending machines.

looks like GA may be adding room also.

see trucks parked in some of them at night.

they can't all be out of service.lol

I always liked weigh stations for the simple reason they didn't smell like urine. Slept in a lot of them and never had a problem.

Love parking at the scales when they have parking. Quiet, safe, and no troubles.

Too new to running strictly legal logs for the decade old aversion to tempt fate parking in the DOT's front yard to bring myself to do it. See the strictly legal megas there all the time, though. I guess I'd echo that if your stuff is together it sure beats hitting a ramp.

In my time driving I slept at the scales one time. It wasn't by choice! :biggrin_25526: I felt like I was in jail. Who wants to sleep at the jail?

But yes they are a viable solution. I just didn't see a need for it nor was it part of my routine. If you plan and seek you will find other more comfortable places.

I park at them all the time, never had a problem...never seen any trucks being inspected after being there all night long either. Have seen VA mess with the ones that aren't parked in spots though...so don't do that. If you are gonna park at a rest area or weigh station...make sure you are really parked in a spot.
