Truck havens located at weigh stations

I was which is why I got rid of her. Real truckers get divorced.

 

I've stayed at scales in Kentucky and Florida. No problems.

 

Right off the bat, I'll say I'm a rookie so I can't say as I know anything about anything.. That said, as I see it, I would assume you're pretty safe at the scale. I'd suspect that the DOT officer opening up in the morning might assume that if there was something major wrong the driver would need to be a complete idiot to park there.

 

If you need a place to park, you need a place to park. Late at night it can get hard to find a place. Why not use the scales parking area? Sometimes I'm relieved just to find a spot before my hours run out. Don't think you should be intimidated to park there. Doubt they do much inspections on peopled parked there, they probably figured you wouldn't be dumb enough to park there with issues on truck/trailer. And if you are really worried they will, get your s... fixed.

 

Parked at many a scale never had any problems there at all.didnt expect to find parking in DC area so went to the scale and stayed until my delivery time.

 

I dont really have the option to park and sleep for the night because my truck is a day cab. But if i was to, id say the scales would be a good place to be. Chances of rif-raf and hoodrats wont be likely to mess with you there. I know what the Pilot in Charlotte on Statesville ave is like at 2:00am and its not an easy feeling. One place to come to mind is the GA scales on 95 sb, they are connected to the rest area. No different than parking at the scales. Keep your logs clean and truck up to par and no prob. Cant speak for anyone else, but i kinda get satisfaction when an officer has to take time out of his extremely busy day, crawl under my truck and whatever else just to tell me "All is well, have a nice day" LOL

Don't know what it's like now but back in the day drivers almost out of hrs will keep on going till they find a safe haven other then a weigh station,me included,lol.

 

I'll take a weigh station if needed, particularly KY. Roomy, never hassled. In fact, several of the best and most genial interactions with diesel cops have been in KY. I really have no issues with them.
