Ok I know where you mean--haven't spent much time in manhattan--other than little west 12th--in long time--Had to deliver pallet of specialty meat to the Waldorf--few years back(just up from Grand CentraL) but ran up 2d from bridge--then west on 49th and unloaded off street--then over to Broadway and back downtown--I did see the go around of GC--and the road (Park AV) coming up from underneath--but sign on Corner--49th--park--showed no commercial traffic on Park--but other than that really do not know that area all that well

UPDATE:
You can make it under the pershing square bridge with a 13'6" box IF you stay in the center.
Will report back later if you can make it in the right lane. -
There are exceptions to every rule of thumb regarding NYC area bridges and overpasses. It always amused me that if you turn on your radio on Manhattan, there are always drivers who will beg you to lead them off the island. One was so shook up he followed me out to W Babylon before we went back over the Verrazano.
I hear anti-acid pills sell well on roads leading to NYC, -

Ok, just made trip thru NYC, and I haven't been up there for 20 yrs. I will have to say that it seems the drivers (4 wheelers) are nicer than they were 20 yrs ago. I made a video going across the GW at 5:30 pm eastern time on a Thursday. Really impressed with how much smoother the traffic is now that then. Call me crazy, but I will probably be back as the company I work for runs up there.

I used to drive a for a moving company. Freightliner Columbia, and 51ft low floor van trailer. Went all over the county and always into residential. NYC is bad, but Boston is way worse for residentail and old DC is hard also. Miami and Atlanta have nothing on them.
I have had to have my helper standing outside the truck watching for clearance and using a broom to push overhead cables back up on top of the trailer, that had got stuck between cab and trailer, its funny now that I look back at it.
But if you can drive in New England Cities, you can drive anywhere in the states.
I always liked the challege and always made it happen.
