First thing I would do is run the vin to see if it was reported stolen.

If it’s been sitting 5 years it’s probably gonna need some TLC before it’s ready for the road.

 

Hopefully nobody died inside the truck.

 

FJ, depending on State laws, may have to contact law enforcement first, to start the process of legally taking ownership of the truck.

 

I'm sure FJP has a policy for this, as this has probably happened a couple of times at least

 

The truck very well may be claimed by creditors of the company. Depending on bankruptcy laws, and the willingness of creditors, FJ may not be able to gain ownership.

 

If its even salvageable. Having been sitting 5 years who knows whats been stolen off of or out of it. And as been noted who knows who or what may be living in it and what they have done inside.

Also if its been sitting for 5 years. It does make you wonder how much of the parking shortage is just junkers abandoned that no one bothers to check. Hell i know theres one over at shoemakers thats been there since i started driving almost 16 years ago now and which my dad complained about for years before that.
