I don’t have “Fire Extinguisher Inside” or “Safety First,” but I’m thinking about adding them. Anything to give them the impression that I’m a safe driver. Luckily, I haven’t been stopped “randomly” anymore while on the freeway. I updated my MCS-150 recently, and it said that I am no longer in the new entrant program. Yay!

I was pulled over twice in a few months, due to letters being illegible, due to colors, and time. That was a few yrs back. I keep forgetting, yesterday at Flying J in Indy, I finally got new letters. Now I have to put them on, without screwing it up. Lol. I plan on removing all the graphics on my Truck, and adding a few vinyl stripes of my own, to hide blemishes. I’ve been inspected so many times, it’s almost unbelievable. Hope they ease up on you, now. It took years for them to leave me alone. I actually started asking, why so often? Every time. It’s enough to make a Guy Paranoid. Especially Me.

It’s cheap. If I remember correctly, you can get a discount if you’re an OOIDA member. I pay $14.90 monthly. It’s easy to sign up. Give them a call, and ask about the OOIDA discount.

There’s also Drivewyze, but I don’t have much experience with them. Drivewyze requires a cellphone internet connection, while PrePass doesn’t. If you have an Omnitracs device, that would be different as Drivewyze apparently uses Omnitracs’ satellite signal.

I have both a toll-paying device and a PrePass as a bundle. I’m using BestPass. Some mega trucking companies like Werner, Schneider, Prime, and Stevens Transport use them.

I got a fix it ticket on I-80 in California, for no "fire extinguisher inside" decal, by the portables at the old bug check in Truckee, back before the permanent scales were built. No money, but I had to stop at the truckstop, get one and put it on, then get the ticket signed off by CHP, and send it in.

In what year was that? Many interstate mega companies do not have the “fire extinguisher” decal.

I’ve noticed a lot of Big Outfits with very small letters. Ryder, being one. I truly think many DOT harass Independants. Some are great, others seem to have an attitude that I have no right to be running my own #s. Same Folks worship the Corporations, and Millionaires as better than others. IMO, anyway.
