If you ever get through Joplin, Missouri about mile or two south of Petro is Thunder Graphix, they do lettering, wraps, whatever you want pretty much. Good people, reasonably priced.

All the years I trucked, except for my first truck, I had my signs mounted on a piece of aluminum mounted to my fuel tanks. Very legible. Even had a few cops comment that it was a good idea, never a problem. My avatar is one of my old fuel tank signs.

Hah! That’s exactly who I was going to recommend. Garry comes off as sort of a dick sometimes to people he doesn’t know but it’s just because he deals with the public all day everyday. He’s a fantastic guy and extremely smart. We’ve been out to lunch and done business for years. Next time he can just print out my little outline of a fire extinguisher that I have on file there. It’s a trick looking way to comply with the law without having a bunch of lettering on the truck.PE_T and Rideandrepair Thank this.
-
Is it really the law though? I’ve never had anything about a fire extinguisher on any truck I’ve owned and there’s never been a word said about it.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Might just be an Indiana thing but I’ve been warned or cited over it before a long time ago. Garry said I had to have it and I said no, F em. Then that’s why I had the little outline deals made because I don’t like all the extra lettering but didn’t have to worry about it anymore.
I don’t run the VIN or gross weight stuff though. Just logo, truck number, dot number, city and state, and the little fire logo and we’re always good. Garry says to go a half inch larger then the law requires but I go exact as law and only had trouble once, we challenged it and won. So, I’m a little hard headed or wannabe outlaw LOL (Much as we can in 2020) but he definitely knows his stuff.Carolina Dreamer, PE_T, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
JJ Keller has a good article. There were changes made some years back that made it much simpler what’s required on the side.
What markings must be on a CMV?PE_T and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Yep, I almost said ##, and walked out, after a couple sarcastic remarks. I gave him the benefit of a doubt, though. He turned out to be very good, and reasonably priced. That’s funny!!!PE_T and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

I have my number on the side of my truck and I haven’t had any women call yet?
In all honesty it’s only been on there for 3 years so I’m thinking a woman probably hasn’t had a chance to see it yet.. lol
The defending of a complaint from a 4 wheeler is classic lol.
I received a complaint from a 4 wheeler a couple years ago.
It was a guy trying to merge in to 60 mile an hour right lane traffic at 60 miles an hour and down the shoulder he went.
Phone rings in the truck and my wife answers it with company name and the guys starts going off about one of her drivers just ran him off the road.
She says “ hold on I’ll transfer you to the safety department and then hands me the phone.
I answer the phone “vehicle safety”
He then proceeded to yell at me about how one off our drivers just ran him off the road.
“I said these are serious allegations can you explain what happened”?
He said “I was coming down the on ramp and your driver failed to yield the right of way to me”
I then told him there is no yield sign on the highway and that the on ramp is called an acceleration ramp and not an equal traffics speed ramp for a reason.
I then told him “ when you come down the ramp and you equal traffics speed and left lane is full you will most definitely be taking a trip down the shoulder every time.
He then says ## and hung the phone up.
We laughed for hours about that phone call and I still get a kick out of it today lol.Carolina Dreamer, JoeyJunk, Midwest Trucker and 4 others Thank this. -

Yes
Although a fire extinguisher is required a lot of people think it is required to have the “fire extinguisher inside sticker” but it is not required.
The other side of the coin is if your trucks on fire and you happen to be trapped under it not coherent it would be helpful to a good smarten to know where to find it before you become a piece of bacon lolRideandrepair and PE_T Thank this. -
All I have is very minimal company name and us dot# last 8 of vin on passenger side just for Colorado. Minimum height I could get away with and nothing more at rear of side skirts and as
