Well, that changed for the better. Turns out the first load couldn't load until today, so I found a better paying better with a more favorable delivery time. I did have to actually work for once though. Plus I missed a night at home LOL.
The $1,600 on 485 miles was worth it though. Another quick pick and delivery load came up too, which added a hundred miles.
So, the trip ends up being $2,750 on 900 miles. Still not the best, but good enough for the middle of March with a funky ole dry box.

@Scooter Jones hey man, I'm sorry I got your last thread sent to the politics section.
PPLC, Scooter Jones and 88228822 Thank this. -
One hand, you see all the WMs, Costcos, Albertsons having the time of their lives. On another, you'd think that they need replenishments and trucks to carry them.
Are they going to get it and for how long? What are the supplies needed to manufacture the very product and also packaging for all these things: from Campbell soups, soaps, hand sanitizers, to toiler paper and water? Do they need anything from China / overseas to make them? Let's hope not, because, for dry vans, it would mean staying busy for a while.
At the same time, Tanker yankers please keep delivering fuel to truck stops, and tell those folks at refineries to keep the hard work. Truck stop fuel desk clerks - please come to work, DC workers please don't quit, keep unloading us. We'll be fine.Scooter Jones and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -

Truck Load Rates Halt 8 Week Slide 1.0
would have had its 1st anniversary today!!!!
I'd like to wish its creator @Scooter Jones all the best in managing this one to become as prolific and successful as the last one. At the same time, I do hope, that on March 12/2021 we'll all be in better moods and bashing those who agree to take loads that pay even as much 3 dol a mile....for a dry van.
I would like to raise a toast now but due to the fact that I am on duty not driving...well off duty but inside CMV , I will not do it.

I went to Amazon to reorder some Brawny "Tear a Sheet" paper towels we use in our household and on the truck.
Last order November 2019 was $21.99 for the big multi-roll package.
Price today $30.99
30% more.
Good ole' supply and demand.Vic Firth, PPLC and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Probably because if the rates are at that level, I'm going to have a lot of cranky customers.
TallJoe Thanks this. -
Well, not to be crude and insensitive, however, I'm thinking all these drivers that are afraid of the Wuhan Coronavirus, should just park it for a few months and quarantine themselves at home

Picked up a port load in Savannah yesterday and it was a ghost town. Just completely shut down. Gonna reposition to the heartland and see how it goes. Ironically this is the best week I have had in two years but I can read the writing on the wall. I still believe when the fear subsides in a month or so, we will see a boom like we have never seen.
RERM and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
Lots of water and toliet paper loads avalable soon I would bet. All sold out here in Cali!
Vic Firth Thanks this.
