Last night, I did a relief load for Uber.
The load was from Findlay, OH to Green Bay, WI for $700. Canned soups. It was not paying too good but it was fun to do it all the way on Personal Conveyance.
The shippers BOL did not have any attached docs stating it to be COVID 19 designated load. However, Uber stated in their rate con, that the shipper designated this load as a relief, and as such it was treated by me.

I guess now, if ever asked, I can say that I did my part in providing relief during the pandemic, when the country needed me. I am proud of myself...or can pretend to be so. ()

Reason for edit: so that a little dose of satire does not go unnoticed.

That's outstanding! Hard to believe. You don't have to protest, do you?

Is there produce happening around the San Jose area? I just don’t know anything about CA to be honest freight wise. My point is though I saw a lot of upward pressure on rates from there today while trying to broker out a load. Reefer teams especially. Even saw some almost $3/mi to the NE. Couldn’t believe it.

Salinas and that area. That's where a lot of it comes from.

    Yuma.

Watsonville, which is near Salinas as well, is the other place where tons of produce ships.

    Google Tanimura and Antle.

There is pretty much produce out of that area and south down to San Luis Obispo year round, but right now is getting to be the busy season. I've heard that a lot of the growers have cut back or plowed their crops under because there wasn't enough demand with so many restaurants closed. We all complain about low rates, but imagine having a crop worth several million dollars (or more) under normal conditions that is now almost worthless. That's what a lot of growers are facing right now, and it's cheaper to plow it than pick it. This pandemic is hitting everybody in one way or another.
