    Excerpt from FMCSA QandA

What documentation is needed to verify that the driver is operating under the exemption?
There is no specific documentation required for verification. Retention of ordinary business records, such as the bill of lading, may be useful later for the convenience of the motor carrier and driver, to document use of the exemption during a future inspection or enforcement action.

The way, I understand the 10 hour break to follow after delivering the relief load, is that you must take it when otherwise, your continuing to drive, would violate 11/14 clocks. 70 hour clock is not affected by the relief load.

This reminds me of the old saying, caught between a hard spot and a rock.

Rates being the way they are right now, tough decisions need to be made. Does one park it earning zero revenue, but still have big payments that need to be covered every month, or just keep running hoping to just make enough to at least cover his monthly obligations, or maybe park it and temporarily take on another line of work to cover the monthly payments, or maybe hope to be one of the lucky few that are able to get a government loan to keep them going ?

Tough decisions for tough times, no doubt...

I, initially said, that he would, assuming @Oscar the KW said what he said, without taking other things into considerations. 1. Dry van. 2. OH to WI lanes. I think he wanted to show his contempt for what I did but he missed his swing at me.

I thought that netting $500 after night's run is better than nothing. I don't remember rates being that much better on that lane prior to Covid-19 anyway...maybe $100 more from the $700 I got.

Regardless. For him there was no way in hell....but instead of hell, I I was in OH and there was the way - US-30 no tolls.

That "relief" load was not that much different from any other load. Can Soups. I would have taken it for $600 too.

It is one thing when you sit at home out of contempt for rates out there but once you decide get out and work, there is a chain of consequent loads that you need to take.

Once I declared to you that I would not hesitate to work for food, if I must. It is not beyond my dignity. I stand by what I said.

    How about the paradigm of:

I run in good times the same way as in bad times and let the law of averages do its work.

BTW. Supporting you own farmers is a great idea. I remember when Christmas or Easters were coming, my grandfather used to go the village to buy half a pig and some veal, goose, eggs. He smoked great sausages... I miss those days a lot.
I hate to see them slaughter pigs for nothing or plow their crops now . Not for me to judge but that waste is a shame, if not sin.

Please try to verify that rumor if you can. I was hearing the same about the everglades from up north but when i was there delivering i couldnt find anyone who had heard it and they live right there.

I dont always like your freight decisions but i admire your work ethic joe. I busted firewood all winter in a elderly farmers pasture one year to feed his outdoor boiler, surrounded by inquisitive black angus, while my kids sat in the truck.

it wasnt a bad way to live. A timewarp to the simpler days i miss. A pile of wood and a maul. The time went fast, except for the rainy ones! Having little aint so bad as long as what you have is YOURS.

My dream is to get rid of that truck sell the house and condo, cash IRAs and and buy a land in Montana.., and before my muscles go weak, raise some cattle and sheep and hens running around.... and age there in peace
I never met nicer people from those in Montana. I mean it, I can sense resentment from miles...but they are genuine nice, God fearing folks. I hope I could find some room over there. Leaving this urban malaria for good.
Now...I have to figure out how to start working my wife and ...my teenager son on this.:(
