This was my last settlement for May so far:

    $0.00 truck revenue
    $0.00 overhead
    0 loads
    0 miles

    Ain't I special? LOL

Im prob out of touch but don’t look too bad long as you got your health and family together. Having my toddler sometimes I realize that nothing else matters. I always thought I had to make a bunch of money but having my family is priceless.

Well we get paid weekly. So how many can it really be?

    Just started the big trip.

I told everyone we should take out loans, dawn masks, stick our heads in our ##### ( while wearing masks ), and live in fear.

But they all looked at me like I was dumb.

Without your health, everything is useless.

But there are many things worse than death.

I was sort of joking. I know they are truck load multi-drops but to me if it has more than one stop along the way (2 drop) then I call it LTL. I don't want anything to do with LTL unless the pay is structured for LTL/multi-drop and that's never the case with these garbage loads.

Thinking back, those plant loads were such a joke for the average entry level flunky like me at May Trucking.

They paid us like $10 extra per drop at the time. Some of those loads had 6 to 7 drops, in metropolitan areas to boot.

I ran the actual hrs on one of those loads and figured between driving, on-duty and off-duty wait times, I was making like $7.00 an hour, less than the forklift driver who got to go home every night ;-)

I took a load from Oregon to Michigan one time. Really nice deciduous trees and plants. Delivered them to this guys farm way up and out in the middle of nowhere of Michigan, really beautiful spot.

The old man had made MILLIONS of dollars (according to one of his sons helping me to off load) building highways. Really down to earth guy. Invited me in for lunch in his HUGE custom log home. When I asked if tree farm was a side business in retirement, he said, "nah, it's just something my wife & I like do." He had hundreds of acres in plants & trees from all over the world.

Interesting people you meet sometimes as a flunky entry level driver.
