Truck Load Rates Halt 8 Week Slide 2.0

That's a tough call. In a normal year, there would be loads paying a lot of money to move over the holiday. This year it seems to be like it's all either before or just after the holiday. I have a loaded trailer of chilled beer kegs sitting in my storage lot that doesn't deliver in Portland until Tuesday. It paid more than enough for a round trip, but has a 5 day window for a 900 mile run, so I'm home for the holiday. I'm liking it. My contract clients are shut down next week, so if I can manage to find a rare load home from the PNW, it will just be gravy.

 

I always choke up a little when I hear that song. Back in 2001 a few weeks after 9/11 I attended a barber shop quartet competition in Truckee California where my father in law was a member of a quartet. They got on stage and sang this song with two other quartets as a tribute to the victims of 9/11. After the song ended, there wasn't a dry eye in the place and everybody was on their feet cheering. That was a rare time in this country when everybody was united and patriotic regardless of which side of the isle you leaned toward. Too bad it can't be like that all of the time.

 

We had some HUGE loads available I let go for over the weekend.

I have a truck load of stuff I need to knock out here, so I called it a holiday.

And I needed some rest.

Other trucks are blowin and goin.

 

There's 3 guys posting big loads at 0430 on Sunday morning lol.

They've been available though. Think everyone that could take them is waiting to see what else may come up.

 

Around 20 years ago I was flying into LA on the 4th of July at around 9m and it looked just like that. They can never stop all of the fireworks from getting in unless they search every single vehicle entering the state.

When i was in the oilfield they would fly us to/from if we had to go quite a ways. Last time i flew was 9/11 LOL I had half a dozen 4 inch straps and some other items that looked out of sorts. Edge protectors and whatnot. My bag deff got searched lol. 6am flight. "Ya I'll take a Budweiser". Apparently no mini bottles in coach
