This morning I was on I-5 NB Oregon. Drove past a driver in a red sleeper truck pulling an Amazon Prime Trailer, who had just seconds before turned his truck & trailer on it's side in this hairpin turn on exit 238 that loops back over to the westbound side where the newer Love's is. The dust was still rising and people were rushing to his aid.
He was turned over about where that red pick-up is.
When I went back by southbound early this afternoon, they had stood him back upright and were transferring the goods from his trailer to another one.

Just found a short article online
Overturned truck blocking northbound I-5 exit 238 near Albany -
A lot of the Amazon O/O contractors I see pulling their trailers are new to the business. They have their company name printed on a piece of paper and taped to the door of the truck, and they simply don't know how to drive.

That was one of the more difficult backing experiences I've had. The street view picture is from before I loaded there. When I was there, the ceiling was damaged over every dock, the red fence was bent, and all of the concrete pillars and yellow rails were in pretty bad shape.
After that experience, I decided it was time to get out of running power only and get my own trailer.Midwest Trucker, PPLC and Scooter Jones Thank this. -

So for sheats & giggles I decided to call TQL about one of the 14 different posted from and to city combinations.
The kid spent more time cross examining me about where I was empty, when I would be empty and what time I would be empty, than giving me the exact location of the pick-up and delivery location of the load.
I kept pressing him, he kept evading me. So, I threw a number at him. That ended the conversation LOL86scotty, Ruthless, Midwest Trucker and 4 others Thank this. -
I take maybe 2 or 3 load per year from TQL. Despite all the bad press they are getting, they've never hurt my feelings yet. The one thing that was sort of suspicious was a load of radiators that turned out to be a load of radiators from a scrap yard - unsuitable for my trailer. I caught it ahead of time, called them and cancelled a day and a half ahead of pick up. They did not resent that at all and even thanked me for doing it early enough. I don't know what they would say if I decided to bail out on them at the very shipper, which I would have done.
Me and TQL are like a dog and hedgehog play. The former wants to play with the latter as it was not pinpricked hard enough yet and the latter does not care what happens if the former catches it too hard.
BTW: the post was also intended as my exercise of using the "former and latter" expression as I sometimes forget which one is which. LOL .Dave_in_AZ, Midwest Trucker, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
Okay, follow up on the TQL deal.
Nice lady called me back. I was able to nail her down on the exact location(s) and times.
Load was what I was looking for. We haggled on the price for a couple of minutes and settled on $50 less on my "bottom line", which was actually $50 more than my real bottom line
Which I'm sure made her feel good LOLMidwest Trucker, PPLC and Dale thompson Thank this. -
I didn't have anything booked for the rest of the week so I hopped on Convoy to see what was happening first thing this morning and noticed a reefer beer load to Eugene OR from my area for over $4 per mile that picked up in less than 2 hours. I figured that if I was going to rush to get dressed and get over there, I was going to make it worth my while so I bid it up to $5 per mile and got a win notification in less that 5 minutes. So I'm sitting here waiting to be loaded and looked at Convoy again and see a frozen load out of Portland 5 hours after I deliver in Eugene for $1.50 per mile and I bid it up to $2 per mile. Won it almost immediately. I wish it was always like this.
