Yeah, we pay everything including tolls, ifta, trailers, everything. No deductions except the fuel as noted. It’s a good way to make a solid living. He’s not going to get rich but he’s certainly not going to struggle either. He knows what he’s going to get and it’s on us to beat the market to make our profit. Which, I’m fine with.
It does seem like most people don’t like per mile pay though, they would rather have percentage even if it means making less. To each their own I reckon.D.Tibbitt and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
Nope, I mean it was good when you posted this. It changed. Wait.......changed again. Rates are good. They'll suck again when the brokerages open in the morning.Dale thompson, Dave_in_AZ, PPLC and 2 others Thank this.

It seems like a good deal . But id just feel like im leaving alot on the table if something was paying 3 or 4 or more per mile. Or the higher paying short haul stuff , which ive found that i prefer. Somebody doing that would be getting screwed on 1.50 per mile. But if its coast to coast or even regional type of freight i could definatly see the benefit of running per mile and not worrying about whatever rate the load is paying.Dino soar, Dave_in_AZ and Brettj3876 Thank this.

Oh, for sure bro. I definitely get it. Would it be for me? No, absolutely not.
Everyone is looking for something different and when you can get all hub miles pay no matter what, that’s fairly appealing for some. In 2017 and 2018 I was paying 1.70/mi and then had to lower to 1.50 during 2019. However, during the 2020 shutdown we kept running more miles then ever and I kept him at 1.50 even though most freight was only paying 1.50/mi. I take care of my own, that’s for sure.
It’s one of those deals where do you want to assume all the risks, all the costs, all the headaches, and make more? Or, do you want to be home every weekend, make love to the ol lady, and then leave back out knowing you got a check coming? Haha, I know that’s sorta funny but is reality. When you run a business as a carrier or independent, things are challenging and a lot of pressure to say the least.
Edit: He averages at least 2500 miles per week and home every weekend. I’m not promoting my company, just perspective since I was asked. -
