Okay, like I said earlier in the week, if an owner operator isn't making any decent dough the last couple of mos, well you know what I mean.

I should preface that by saying "decent" to one person, might be "indecent" to another. But I digress.

Since I'm booked through the end of the month, I know where my numbers are for August. Not as good as some of the heavy hitters on this forum, especially the one's that burn their 70 hours every week, but good enough for me.

Even though I had a pretty decent month as far as revenue and my all miles rate, I'm most happy about my hourly rate to the truck this month, it ended up at $142 an hour per on-duty/driving this month. The hourly rate to the truck is to me an important factor of profitability in the end.

Combine that with being home every night in my own bed and I realize that (for me at least) I'm a very blessed man! Everyone else's mileage may vary.

    Cowabunga, dude!

I picked up a nice slow load yesterday in NorCal for a Monday morning delivery in Portland at $4.22 per mile. That gives me today to get a hotel in Medford, rent a car, and go meet my new grandson. My daughter is having a slow recovery because she had an emergency C-section and is still pretty sore. I swear I'm so thankful I was born a man.

What trade war? US imports from China are booming - FreightWaves

"There are some positive signs for exports. According to Argus Media, China began ramping up purchases of U.S. crude oil in May and imported over 800,000 barrels per day in July — a plus for tanker demand. China should also buy more U.S. grain in the second half.

But the real story is goods flowing in the other direction, from China to America.

“The U.S. import-export imbalance with China just got worse,” Flexport Global Head of Ocean Freight Nerijus Poskus told FreightWaves."

That's how Owen arrived as well.

How do you go from a normal delivery to an emergency c section ( no anesthesia / not kidding)???

    I don't hate all doctors.
I think there are 1 in 10,000 that know their business.

It was a big baby and this was her first. She developed a condition known as pre-eclampsia which makes the mother's blood pressure go way up. My wife had it too with our first. Usually they put the mom on full bed rest to keep the pressure down, but my daughter's was getting dangerously high and she was in labor to boot. They couldn't get her to labor to become strong enough to start pushing. They broke her water to get things moving faster, and 12 hours later the baby's blood pressure was dropping, so they moved fast. There wasn't time to numb her up and they just went for it to save the baby. My daughter is tough as nails and took it like a champ.

Mom and baby are doing great. The baby was born a genius, and starts violin lessons next week.
