Well...As long as they deliver their freight into U.S. and take freight back to Canada, I think it is ok. It is how the trade worked ever since the ancient times. Merchants traveled with their goods to foreign lands to offer goods.
As far as them cheating and performing interstates commerce, do you have any data? I would not exaggerate the scope of the problem. -
In guess it is the highest time to spice up the thread a little...LOL
Just wait when the rates will go below 3 dol per mile and we'll see ### kicking again.PPLC Thanks this. -
I did Northlake, IL - Omaha, NE $2000.00 (good but overnight ride - pain in the ###)
Omaha, NE - WI - $950
deadhead 250 miles to MN and from there $5400 to Miami, FL (mixed feelings about this but I'll do it)
Previous week:
IL - CT - $3650
NY- MO - $2600
MO -MI - $1900
MI - WI - $1100
(3100 miles)
I'd say it still keeps the level.Ruthless, PPLC and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Couple months ago I had my front bumper and grill ruined by a Mexican carrier and Mexican driver while in Kentucky. Seemed strange he was so far north. He didn’t speak any English and had a “conductor” license.
Would have been interesting to know what he was hauling and where. I hadn’t thought much about the canadians. Interesting.PPLC and SteveScott Thank this. -

Apparently the cabotage laws as they are called are pretty lax on both sides of the border. I found this article from 10 years ago where Canadian drivers were complaining about US carriers hauling point to point within Canada.
Cabotage concerns - Truck News
As I understand how the laws are supposed to work in the US, a Canadian truck can cross the border either loaded or empty, and pick up a load that is in the general direction of a load they are picking up that is coming back to Canada. This would probably explain why the rates are so low in the northern part of the US, because there is so much capacity for the limited number of loads heading south. Seems like a sweet deal for the Canadians, and a crappy one for the US. So what else is new.User666, Dino soar, Dale thompson and 1 other person Thank this. -
