It's funny, but I always talk to my friends from Detroit, that Canadian drivers are all Indian now. It was interesting to watch how things changed within last 5 years. Caucasians just slowly disappeared.
Apparently Canada is still very relaxed about immigration, while the US got a lot tougher about it.

Whereabouts in Kentucky? There's a lot of automotive plants that get Mexican made components, among other things.

I was always under the impression that cabotage was based on citizenship of the driver and not where the trucking company was based.

It's based on both, the nationality of the driver and the origins of the carrier/equipment being used.

On a rate related note: Just paid, yesterday, $4.68/mi on a team run from western MN down to the TX oil patch. Wooooo.

In my area it seems like the rates are coming down.

A broker called me the other day for a short load and he asked me what I wanted. I told him $950.

He was very polite and even sincere but he said we can only pay $500.

I have spoken to him before and I know he does move quite a few of those loads and I'm sure he's not kidding me he moves them at that price.

I just don't know who would fire their truck up to make $500 minus fuel, even if it's a short load.

Even if you were already in the city and it's a 10 mile load from where you are, even at that... okay I might do that for $500.

Yet I often see those kinds of loads for $200 or $250... Who the hell are these people that do that? SMH

    Anyway...

Those loads that paid really well over the summer seem like they are becoming fewer and fewer.

I would have thought at this time of year things would be picking up towards Christmas?

As of today I'm still doing okay but I really have to work harder to find the loads.

You were competing with like 6 other team loads in that area if it was flatbed, not counting TQL's 7 duplicates.

I know- it was flatbed. I saw it on DAT. I'm gonna be having a chat with my guy about that.

We ended up missing all the team loads on Thursday since we got unloaded too late, but even the solo loads were paying decent to get out. We ended up on a solo run from SD to AZ for $4600. The fun part is going to be figuring out where to deadhead from there to get a decent load.
