Hey guys, you can save up to $15,000 per year if you lease under us! You only have to give up about $50,000 in income! Call now to speak to a recruiter, just ignore the seagulls and Caribbean music in the background.

    Very interesting...
Make hay while the sun shines" is an old saying that's considered a proverb. ....

If you make hay while the sun shines, it means that you take advantage of the chance to do something while conditions are good. In other words, you make good use of your time or make the most of an opportunity while you have the chance.
    ..........
Hundreds of years ago, it would take many days for farmers to cut, dry and gather hay. Today, it's much easier to make hay because of our modern machinery and weather forecasting.
Since hay can be ruined easily if it gets too wet, medieval farmers had to take advantage of hot, dry, sunny weather to cut and gather hay. Thus, “make hay while the sun shines" was just a matter of common sense to them."

When I was a kid we made a lot of hay while the sun was shining. It’s imperative for animals like horses. If it rains while the hay is already cut and laying in the field then you end up with mold and dust. Then, it is less valuable and goes to animals like cattle.

Sometimes unfortunately it didn’t work out. That’s why old timers trusted the almanac and the moon cycles and stuff vs the weather man.

Even breeding and weaning them off the mom depended on a lot of old time type factors like that. Wish now I had listened to my grandparents more.

You can carve out a decent living at 1.65 or 1.70 if all your bringing is the truck, fuel, collision and bobtail. I have an o/o for close to 5 yrs now doing it. The downside is you can’t hit and ride the big waves that really get a guy ahead. However, for some the consistency and lack of headaches is worth it.

Now, if your running for 1.15 and still have some deductions then that’s just going to slowly bleed a guy to death. Maybe even quickly with a little bad luck.

I bet there are many ah owner ops with their own numbers who have came and went in the time my guy has been with me. There’s something to be said for that.

    Some will take care of
insurance: $6500 - 14 000. you still need to pay bobtail
    Plates: $2100
    Tolls: $ 8000 - 10 000
    ------------------------------------
    $ 16 000 - 25 0000
Seemingly, it may be something, about one month's revenue of an independent but is there any freedom, especially without plates? Still, going for less than 1.5 per mile on ALL MILES for an independent is rather occasional/seasonal and not everyone will let you ride tolls free or won't charge anything for insurance.

Not to mention trailer costs, IFTA, office/billing support, quick pay, ELD, all the filings, drug testing, etc etc.

I figure it at .50/mi but even if it’s .35 then that puts the owner op at 2/mi in theory which meets the Scooter crack head level of trucking. LMAO. Love you Scoot. ;)

I’ll tell you guys one thing, reefer is about to explode. Van too but reefer even more. If I pulled a skate board I’d be parking and securing a rental right about now while you still can. (If you can)
