Reefer has been on fire for the last several weeks here in the west and I expect if we go into a national lock down, the rates will explode even higher. I've managed to stay away from the fresh fruit and vegi market because it's a PITA, but if the rates get as high as I expect they might, I may just roll the dice and get back into it to generate some income. I decided to take at least 4 days off for turkey day because I've been running non-stop for the last 2 months, but things will be gearing up for Christmas and I don't expect rates to dip in my end of the market anytime soon.
The reefer rates heading east from California are outstanding, but getting something coming back is still a challenge. That's why I stick to the west coast. I make much more on fewer miles.Dino soar, Dale thompson, Midwest Trucker and 2 others Thank this. -
Also, some parts of the country are shutting down non essential again and its maximum panic porn out there. Hours in line waiting to get groceries. Completely ridiculous IMO but when people are scared they have no problem spending money.
SteveScott, Dale thompson, p608 and 2 others Thank this.
