I wasn’t trying to one up you. :)

I’ve tried to buy more locally, but no one comes close to giving me the money he does for my trade.

I think you did real well there Joe. That’s a lot of work and new stuff and really not that much in labor. My personal feeling is that if you can’t afford to hire an expert to do a good job and get you back ASAP to doing what you are an expert at, then maybe one is doing something wrong.

Obviously, I don’t like throwing money down the tubes but I don’t have the expertise or really even the want to to dig real deep into the trucks. Looks like you have found a good shop!

What was the total amount of days down for those two repairs?

Oh I know, just for a minute I thought I hope what I said isn’t being construed as bragging or something. Then I got a chuckle out of what I could reply back.

One quick note... in regards to either trade in or selling yourself. The last 680’s I sold was back in Feb/March and I had to literally give them away at $22,500 each. That prior fall I could have gotten upwards of 42,500. What a kick to the nuts. However, my point is now currently I got 36k without even putting it on truck paper. So, this is what a $13,500 swing in used truck value in less then 10 months!

Oh the joys of trucking. Crazy land sometimes.

Yep we've been doing the local 150. No logs for us anymore. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a truck with 1.5m as long as it's been maintained well. If it's not all rusted out and the frame is straight everything else is replaceable. When buying an older truck i figure the cost of an inframe with the purchase. Doing it yourself 5-6k good for another million.

Pulled into the yard around 1:15 this afternoon. Left the house yesterday mid-morning. I had an 11:00 p.m. delivery last night and a 7 a.m. reload in the same area.

Decided to utilize the newly passed 7/3 split berth. Worked out perfectly. Being able to stay in the sleeper at the receiver after I was unloaded and grab some extra zzz's without anyone hassling me to get out, was nice.

I'm ready for a nice long weekend. Deliver the load locally Monday at 9:00 a.m.

Glad I leaned into it pretty well these past several weeks, next week is not (at this point) looking as robust as it has, I wouldn't mind some extra time off ;-)

There is more to it than 7/3 split. Any break of more than 2 hours extends the 14 hour shift clock by that amount of time. Most of my complaints about the HOS used to be about 14 hour shift limit. Now when I stop somewhere for even as many as 4 or 6 hours, it won't count against the 14 provided that later I eventually spend at least 7 in the sleeper. Both breaks must together equal at least 10.
