That’s not how it works. Basically draw a line around a 150 mile radius of where the load picks up. On my way to load once I hit that line switch to PC and note it Ag Exempt. Then once you’re loaded you don’t start your log book until you hit the edge of the 150 mile radius again. This load is going to MI and yesterday I didn’t start my log book until I got to Coeur d’Alene ID.Lostkeys, Dale thompson, PPLC and 2 others Thank this.

This is strange and funny, the commodity itself is not allowing you to PC to MI, but only within the 150 mile radius. I would think that essential goods, which this might be - e.g. we don't want commodities such as you haul to raise rapidly and then food prices raise rapidly - are needed to be delivered asap. So what's the point of 150 mile radius only? Perhaps, it makes sense when farmers need to bring harvests to the sillos during harvesting and there is not time for HOS but if country is still in need for certain relief loads then they should let you ride asap so that I don't have to pay over $30 for a bone-in ribeye. LOL

A fellow member in the other thread complained that he could not find anything decent out of Omaha, NE. He, metaphorically, said that all the better paying freight must be two blocks away. Well, maybe not two blocks away but 2 interstates away ... looking north of Omaha, NE that is I90 and I94 in Fargo, ND and Perham, MN nice paying loads going all directions at the beginning of the last week. I bothered to go there with a connecting load from Chicago area. Posting a truck and waiting for a call may not be the best strategy if you are based in Omaha, NE. The week after the Memorial Day was strong in certain places., especially if you prebooked and preplanned the load the week before.PPLC and SteveScott Thank this.

You’re confusing the Covid exemption with the Ag commodity exemption. The Ag exemption was part of the MAP21 bill that brought us the ELD.
The MAP 21 exemption is for a 150 mile radius of load origin. -
Thanks for clarifying.
I thought that anything going beyond 150 radius is not exempted. Well, it buys a little time on 70 hour clock and gives you a nice lead time on 11/14 hour clocks on a pick up day. I would use it too, if I could. For instance going east, it would buy me a free ride to South Bend IN or going West to Davenport, IA.
That would be a nice push; I leave Chicago in the morning and then go to bed in Cheyenne, WY...maybe Sidney, NE. Anyway, IL-CA-IL in 5-6 days.Last edited: Jun 8, 2021
