    I dont mind short loads but often I find when u pile them up all it takes is one customer taking forever for unloading/loading to mess everything up

    Good friend of mine (owner op) hauled this high priority load from CA to IN for $7,500 last week. Every now and then you catch a nice wave!

    Surf on, dudes!

    Deliver in early morning short deadhead to a pu, run it straight thru then try finding another pickup before 5pm and deliver it in morning. Rinse and repeat but I don't piss with grocery warehouses or the like where long loading or unloading times are common. And helps I've ran lot if these short loads before so I know what to expect going in.

    I know guys will say it's more work blah blah blah but idc bout hitting 3 docks in 1 day. Haven't been close to my 14 all week normally start day around 6am usually shut down by 4pm and only 1 load this week been over 18k lbs.

    Now is this an every wk thing? No I've probably had some luck but with that luck goes knowing my area I run

    That's possible in California. That hard part is getting a good rate into California.
    Is usually sub $2 a mile from anywhere

    I'm seeing I-5 loads trending downward, but that's no surprise. I'm locked into contract freight in both directions for the next couple months at least, so I'm happy. I always keep an eye on the spot market though. Getting a lot of calls and emails from random brokers looking for carriers.

    In my opinion(which isn't worth much lol) I don't see much changing anytime soon. There are still shortages on ALOT of merchandise from the shutdown. Try to go order a new Samsung fridge etc right now and it's months before it can get delivered. And that'd the case with alot of things and now with things getting more back to normal, people are going to be spending $$ this summer.

    Maybe I'm naive but I don't see much change coming anytime soon anyway

    Steering holders will have one less driver to compete with starting next week, I'm going back to flatbed.
    Van/reefer rates have crashed too much for me to hang on

    @Long FLD
    I think tomorrow they are going to load me with a cattle feed, can I use the AG exemption?
