I've never said here on the forum. Due to privacy matters, I don't plan to either.

I am trying to come up with a business idea, that right of the bat will make me more money than I do in trucking, but I can't think of any. Pretty much everything will need a time to build up.
C'mon, open some shades, mystery man o_O

It was son's idea, energy and vision. He just needed an infusion of capital, dad's input and companionship. All 3 the old man was willing and capable of providing. I'll leave it at that ;-)

I am booked until the rest of the month. Just by looking at the listings, I knew the shippers and receivers and wanted to cover those loads, thus staying in my comfort zone. I like the comfort of not preoccupying my mind with constant load board scanning and concerning myself with what the next load is going to be.
However, I booked these loads for less than a few weeks before. Next week: WI - PA $3000 / 780 miles, PA - WI $1500 / 730 miles then WI - CT $3400 / 975 miles.

Are rates on a downhill slope?
I could have gotten potentially up to $1500 more on all these 3 loads combined a few weeks ago. I might have booked them prematurely but there are much less load leads when you look for them in advance and I was concerned that I might end up with little or none of them left, had I waited till the last moment and someone else would beat me to it.

You migh even say that I started to undercut my own rates and thus contribute to a downhill slide. Any time you take a load for less than before you contribute to it too. You are a villain who destroys the market and makes everyone else's life more difficult.
Was it a true statement? Yes and no. I look at this from a different angle. You don't get to decide what rates you get. The market awards you with rates and you are at the marcy of how generous the market is. Paraphrasing, you are one of the two dozen piglets and the pig mother has only so many tits to suck on... you may not even be her favorite.

Still, by the end the month, I will have had the revenue of over $26 000 on 8000 miles and this quarter will be at $78 000, the highest of the last 4.

I am tired of sucking the tit. I'll be slowing down from July on. Unless the trend does not slow down, I'll be picking the raisins out from the dough. With only as little as $10k of revenue per month till the end of the year, I'll still exceed what I planned for this year.

Way to go Joe. You're doing great!

I'm taking another week off because my mom fell last week and broke her back. Had surgery, a few nights in an acute care facility, and she got home yesterday. My dad has in-home help for the next few days, but I'm staying close to home for now. Trying to arrange my contract loads so I'm away no more than 2 nights at a time so I can achieve that goal. My original reasons for wanting to retire this year are happening regardless of if I'm ready for it or not. I've still had a better year financially than I've ever had in trucking.

I'm sure that a certain southwestern driver and his minions feel that we're all lying about our good fortune as O/O's. Not sure why the obsession over this thread for them, but I can only imagine that they just suck at being O/O's. Perhaps we should post screen shots of our bank account balance like he did so many times, as if that proves something.

I am sorry about your parents, Steve and hope they will get better soon.
It reminds me of my own parents in the old country and it's been a while since I saw them. I do want to visit them and this ongoing pandemic makes it complicated. I think that for that purpose of travel only, I'll consider to vaccinate myself so that I can travel to Europe without any hustle of entering there. On the other hand, I have strong reservations against the vaccination and not really sure If I can really bring myself to do it.

On this forum, and any other social media platform,
I try to avoid any animosities or arguments unless they involve me directly.
It is possible, however, to aquire a certain amount disbelief when someone exceeds your own achievements by far in the same line of business. Of course, from my perspective of someone who does not practice a hustle game but rather grabs easy 'bid, click and book' loads from well recognized brokers, I do recognize that there are owner operators performing much better and thus I have little choice but give someone else the credit of trust. It actually gives me an insight that there is more to be earned on a different level of the game without nessecarly my own aspiring to it.
It is pointless to dispute someone else's numbers or bash someone not to achieve more. Everybody has their own real world and they only know how real it is. Of course, with time and years of spot market exposure we can easily assess whether or not someone's claims is within or beyond what we consider reasonable. I don't think that anyone in this thread exceeded the limits of that yet. I admit, on a few occasions, I myself might have been in a doubt but not until after I was able to get similar results every now an then.
