I was a little worried about the customer that was Kraft Foods to be concerned about the production coming to a stop. So I decided to go extra mile with renting the truck and getting the worry off my panicked mind. The prospect of fighting any claim with the almighty Kraft was not looking too promising. Which is not to say, that I did not want to finish the job I committed to,
The product was preprinted packages for bacon.
I am surprised that they are indeed relying on Convoy and Uber carriers for anything that can become so easily critical. Certainly, I, as a plant director, would not risk the production coming to a halt by using a solo o/o such as myself. This time was turbo, the next time can be a something else. Only fleet carriers should be used at such a level of logistical sensitivity. If indeed, it was really not an exaggerated statement on their part, I'd accuse them of high level of incompetence with their logistics, too.

It really just shows your level of seriousness to me. Real deal carriers and owner ops do what you did. I’d be more then comfortable putting you on my most serious and critical freight. I knew you were that level already but this just proves it. You should be real proud my friend. It doesn’t matter who the end customer was or if they would shut down or not. Fact is you got the job done. Huge props.

Edit: Carriers like you are who haul the big freight. Well done. Doesn’t matter if it’s 1 truck or however many.

I would think just the opposite Joe. If I had a critical product to ship, I would feel more confident with a one truck, one trailer O/O over a mega carrier that might drop the trailer in a transfer yard for a couple days. When I started out in this business working for a large carrier, shipments were misplaced all of the time, and it would take a while to figure out where it was.

Is there a DOT blitz this week? I was expecting rates to jump but not seeing it.

Tons of them in AZ. At least half a dozen getting inspected on the shoulder just south of Flagstaff and a southbound rest area was full of trucks getting inspected. I got waved through. Must be my lucky day.
