That’s what’s so crazy about all of this. You get $600 on top of your normal unemployment. Normal is anywhere from 250 to 550 depending on the state and such. There will be no workers left before long.

All of that is on top of the one time payments as well.

    Right.

The way the kicker provision is written is pretty broad too. If you're laid off or UNABLE to work due to the Covid-19 emergency.

So, I says to myself, self, you can't work because your are afraid of being exposed to the Coronavirus.

What's funny is that a broker lady I know told me that there's no WAY the government is "so stupid" to add an extra $600 on TOP of the weekly, normal unemployment insurance LOL.

The ironic thing is that those who are typically most needy to work will be the ones experiencing the highest ever pay raise in their lives. They'll be wanting the virus to stay forever.

    no workers = no business

All business owners can hope is their employees don’t read or understand their options. Sounds bad but it’s the truth. I’d like to think a good many will want to work out of pride though. Hoping like hell thats my entire team.

A well-known Politician (from your State) once said, "never let a good crisis go to waste!"

I collected unemployment since September 2001 to the end of that year. It was about $350 per week. My salary at the time was 55k per year.

I was fired from the job for "disorderly behavior at a work place" even though I was innocent: I mildly bullied my coworker, who offended me verbally with severely foul language. Also, I did refuse to exchange apologies as the condition for that incident to be forgiven. I felt good about myself for the rest of the day and the whole next day. However, from the retrospect, I regret my actions because it was a comfy "sit on my ### all day" IT job and my high tech career ended there for ever.

Anyway, by December that year of collecting it, I was close to suicidal thoughts, so I decided to try what I always wanted to try which was truck driving. I signed up for CDL school in January and that's what I've been doing ever since.

I truly do worry about the “cure” being worse then the “virus”. A couple thousand deaths will seem like nothing once people get depressed and develop alcohol and drug abuse, aside from suicidal thoughts. People need to WORK.

I heard something this morning on the radio that made me think that how society has worked for so long has now changed forever.

Imagine if they drop the quarantine by say May 1st, and businesses are allowed to reopen. Does anybody really believe that the "social distancing" will end at that point? Think about going back to the way things were before being shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Public transportation, restaurants, movie theaters, sporting events, they're all going to be gone or have reduced capacity. If this pandemic works like other viruses, it will level off in a month or two, then come back as bad or worse at the end of this year. The Spanish flu pandemic started in the spring of 1918, but the huge number of deaths didn't occur until the fall when it came around the second time. What we're seeing now may be mild compared to year's end. I hope for everybody's sake I'm wrong. As far as I'm concerned, the best we can hope for are drugs to treat the virus after people get it. I fully expect most of us will get it, and those with underlying health issues will need therapeutic drugs to treat it instead of a respirator. In the case of truck drivers, the best we can hope for is to not come down with it away from home, but that's darn near impossible.
