Edit to add: I haven’t been doing a reset on the west end, so that mpg is running 75+ when the speed limit allows. I don’t like running that fast but right now it’s worth it.Last edited: Feb 9, 2022

Great post @TallJoe. The problem I think a lot of newer drivers will see now is that buying a $300k rig and trailer isn't a big deal with these sky-high rates. Playing $5,000 or more per month in truck/trailer payments isn't a big deal when you're grossing $30k or more a month, but the rest of us know that the rates can drop like a rock in a matter of a week or two. It's a very dangerous time to be getting into the game right now. I don't envy anybody who is thinking about it.
When I got out in October, my primary motivation was to be home more to take care of my elderly parents. No sooner did I retire, then we all got Covid. We're all recovered now except for mom. I think the biggest reason this darn virus kills so many elderly is because their bodies and minds are already weakened from age. My mom was having some memory issues before covid, and her body was ravaged by decades of arthritis, but she was managing. Now she's barely getting out of bed, and her mind is in a constant fog. We're pretty much on death watch now with her, and all anybody can do is keep her comfortable and wait for the end. I hope I check out long before I get to this stage. It's miserable for everybody.Dadetrucking305, Dino soar, JoeyJunk and 12 others Thank this. -

I agree though, more break in, better fuel, conditions, etc should equal .5 to 1 mpg improvement is my expectation.Last edited: Feb 11, 2022

#### the bed Im not sure what happened but did 8.95 mpg this week on around 3k miles. I just texted the driver to see if anything special happened. I know he kept it to 70 but still. Wow.
Edit: The other new truck with less then 1500 miles did very low 7's (7.23 exactly same) like this one started as.Dadetrucking305, Brettj3876, larry2903 and 4 others Thank this. -
