I think everyone knew it was coming but the question was when. Makes you wonder if people are going to skip delivery on the orders they already put deposits on. I had to put down a 10% downpayment so the question I bet some are asking is if they can buy the same trailer 6-12 months down the road for their selling price minus their deposit. For me, that price is $85K.

If you can make it a year or so you'll be fine after all the guys ####### deep in debt fall off.

I mostly agree with you @Midwest Trucker with newer trucks and mpg.....if that's taking into account someone that does 100% of their own wrenching. 6.5-7.0mpg turns into 8 if you're not paying the shop. Not paying someone else to do the work makes up some $$$. But someone having everyone else do all the work easily loses the advantage of running an older truck I definitely see that

A year ago they wanted only $1500 - 3000 deposits. Later, it was $10 000. That's what they wanted from an individual purchaser. To forfeit $10K on the account of getting cold feet would be quite something. I guess, the fleets have different arrangements with dealers.

No, $80,000 without skirts so that puts it around $115,000 with a top of the line TK unit if you can find one.

How much do you pay yourself for your labor?

I know time is money but a day lost is still better than shop rate. And yeah the argument of a new truck won't be in the shop that much trading every few years I get it. In the long run it's about the same. The new truck probably makes out a hair better I'm not arguing that.

    Over the long run

I’m not picking on you. Everyone’s time has value. I feel people sell themselves short when they wrench on their stuff and say their labor doesn’t cost anything.
