That has nothing to do with regulation. I was replying to a comment that said they wished brokers were as regulated as truckers. It’s equally as easy in terms of regulation.

I was just reading that article earlier. Sorry to see a 200 truck company close the doors. I guess the contractual relationship they had with their direct customers must have been on paper only and not much stronger than that. Demanding rate concessions just like brokers do. I read a quote the other day ago from some mega carrier CEO where he said it sucks but the cure for low rates is, low rates.

Not all things are equal. Some carriers have direct contract customers for years, even decades. Looks like this one didn't have solid customers.

The longer people out here hauling cheap freight the more tempting it will more for shippers join the party and dump their carriers unless they cut their rates too.

I just thought I would check in after a few weeks to see how my old friends are doing out there. I didn't think it was possible for rates to go any lower, but I see that they have. I gotta give you all a lot of credit for sticking it out. Trucking isn't an easy business to survive, and these rates make it nearly impossible.

Brokers and carriers alike are doing everything they can to steal all my customers. It’s a blood bath. Some of the lesser important freight they have gotten pried away I’ll watch it on DAT. Just stupid stupid undercut rates and used to take them 4 or 5 hrs to move. Now they’ve pushed it lower and just taking minutes to move.

I refuse to accept freight that I know is a loser to the carrier, even if I plan to broker it out. But, that’s also probably hurting me because these brokers are still skimming off profits and getting further inroads with new customers.

As much as it costs to truly operate over a year to year basis, it’s bad news for those even close to teetering on the edge. I don’t see this improving anytime in 23.
