What's interesting is all the talk about the need for ventilators. Now some doctors and researchers are surmising ventilators may not be the best option? LOL
"But 80% or more of coronavirus patients placed on the machines in New York City have died, state and city officials say.
Higher-than-normal death rates also have been reported elsewhere in the U.S., said Dr. Albert Rizzo, the American Lung Association’s chief medical officer."
My wife told me she saw a report the other night that revealed how the government is reimbursing hospitals $11,000 for every "Coronavirus" patient they admit and $39,000 if they're put on a ventilator.
I see, said the blind man to his deaf son and picked up the hammer and saw!![]()

They would say, while you are suffocating and begging for one " Oh...You did not read that article in Time, did you? With or without the ventilator you would die anyways... As a matter of fact, you are better off without it" -
There is a doc in Mississippi at the UMMC that has been making their own ventilators for less than $100 each from parts obtained at Home Depot and Lowes.
Coronavirus ventilators for $100? They're being built in MississippiDave_in_AZ Thanks this. -

Okay, back to the topic of the thread in general.
I had communications yesterday with a friend who owns and runs a 30mil a year trucking company. This is in part, what he communicated with me:
"I would anticipate the next 2-3 weeks to really be challenging. Keep a positive attitude as this will pass. Make sure we all do business with reliable customers right now. Getting paid and having capital is key right now. Let’s hope June and July we can make it all up?"
Good advice.BoostedTeg, clausland, Truckermania and 4 others Thank this. -

I think, it was mildly put....Two weeks for us, one truck and trailer guys is nothing, even four weeks or six weeks should be relatively easy to endure. Certainly a challenge for owners with fleet and people to look after.
In 2008 the owner of the company I worked for, withheld two paychecks to maintain the cash flow, not letting the company to go out of business. He paid us half the settlements. We were all angry and mad but most kept quiet...those who did not were reminded that there was a list of 20 drivers ready to fill out applications. Some of those who left, quickly came back with their tail between legs.86scotty, clausland, Dale thompson and 3 others Thank this. -

In reality, if some of the other measures/funding I've written about for myself come into play, I could (with some tightening of the belt) survive through the end of the year without pulling my truck out of the driveway.
I've also stated repeatedly that at anytime, rates I have been able to secure, could essentially change on a dime and in reality have expected them to do so. Any person with half a brain can see what is happening right now.
In addition, I've also stated that even if I had to run at $1.50 a mile right now, I personally, because of my overheard ratios, can survive.
Don't plan on doing that right now, but I could...
I'm leaning more towards just keeping the truck parked for a couple of months, spending more time with my wife, kids and grandkids! I love being around them!!!clausland, Dale thompson, Midwest Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Speaking of grandkids. My daughter has to do a better job!
Had her 5 year old son over on Thursday and Friday.
My wife says: "Axel, what do we celebrate on Easter Sunday?"
Axel: "Eating and burying eggs in the ground." LOLclausland, kemosabi49, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this.
